Heinrich Schliemann discovered the sites of Troy and Mycenae and other legendary cities from the works of Homer. He is deservedly known as the father of modern archaeology.
He also became an American citizen at one time and founded a bank in Sacramento, California.
German immigration and roots in Hawaii!
I live on the island of Kauai and have found many interesting facts about German emigration to Kauai during the height of the sugar industry.
There is the German Hill in Lihue and also a church that was build in Germany and was transported by ship to Kauai. It is the oldest Lutheran Church in Hawaii.
