Hugo Boss

Designer

Hugo Boss established his company in Metzingen in southwestern Germany in 1923, when most of the country was in a state of economic ruin after WWI. In 1953, it released its first suit design for menswear.

Today, Boss has several different labels including the elegant core brand Hugo Boss, which appeals to the dynamic, success-oriented man. The newer line Hugo has been around since 1989 and, like Hugo Woman, is geared toward the trendy younger generation. Baldessarini is the fashion house’s up-market men’s line, named for the chairman of the company’s board. Then there is the formal Boss Black, and the more sporty and casual line Boss Orange, and the completely sporty line Boss Green.

In addition to clothing, Hugo Boss, which is still headquartered in Metzingen, specializes in glasses, timepieces, shoes, accessories, undergarments and perfumes, that are produced as licensed partnerships. Today Hugo Boss's line is sold in over 100 countries.
