Claudia Schiffer

Born: 1970

Model and actress

Claudia Schiffer was born in Rheinberg, western Germany. Becoming a model was not her aspiration instead she wanted to work with her father as a lawyer. Coincidence, however, made her one of the world’s first supermodels: After being discovered in a nightclub at age seventeen, and appearing in Elle magazine only weeks later, she went on to work for Chanel and became the face of Guess Jeans in the 1990s. She became the muse of famous designer Karl Lagerfeld.

Over the years Schiffer has been on the cover of more than 500 magazines, such as “Elle,” “Vogue,” “Cosmopolitan,” “Time Magazine.” She was the first top model ever to be on the title page of “Vanity Fair.” She has appeared in several movies and music videos including: Westlife’s cover of Billy Joel's “Uptown Girl,“ 1994's “Richie Rich“ and most recently 2003's “Love Actually.“

Schiffer is married to film producer Matthew Vaughn. The couple has two children.
