Katherine Heigl was born in Washington D.C. She is an Emmy-winning and Golden Globe-nominated actress. Heigl’s great grandfather, Hans Engelhardt, was born in Esslingen, close to Stuttgart.
Heigl lived in Virginia and Denver before her family settled in Connecticut, where she spent most of her childhood. Her time in the spotlight came when she started modeling. She appeared in magazine ads and a Sears catalogue, and made her television debut with a role in a Cheerios commercial. By the age of 12, Heigl could be seen on the silver screen in the 1992 film “That Night,” making her feature film debut. Since then, she appeared in several series and movies, among them “Side Effects,” “Knocked Up” and “27 Dresses.” Her biggest break has come in the form of the hit series “Grey's Anatomy” where she can be seen every week as Dr. Isobel Stevens. In 2008, Katherine Heigl was announced the Most Desirable Woman by Askmen.com.
