Sandra Annette Bullock was born in Arlington County, Virginia, as daughter of Helga Meyer, a German opera singer. Bullock grew up in Nuremberg, were she lived until the age of twelve. As a child she sang in the children's choir at the Staatstheater Nürnberg and often had small parts in opera performances with her mother.

Bullock’s first noticeable role in a Hollywood production was in “Demolition Man” (1993) with Sylvester Stallone. Bullock gained more recognition with her role as a bus driver in the box-office success “Speed,” co-starring Keanue Reeves. The romantic comedy “While You Were Sleeping” then made Sandra Bullock the high-profile film star she is today.

In recent years Bullock has been noted for such films as “Miss Congeniality” and its sequel as well as “Two Weeks Notice”, co-starring Hugh Grant. In the past three years she has starred in “The Lake House,” reuniting with former co-star Reeves, “Crash” and “Infamous” in which she portrayed Harper Lee, the author of “How to To Kill a Mockingbird” and most recently starred in 2007's “Premonition” with Julian McMahon.

Bullock also runs and owns the production company Fortis Films. In 2002 she was awarded the Raul Julia Award of Excellence for her work and co-production of “The George Lopez Show.”

On July 16, 2005, Sandra Bullock married “Monster Garage” host, Jesse James.
